Dr. Graciela Rovner, PhD in Medicine

Dr. Graciela Rovner holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Medicine from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and a postdoc from Karolinska Institutet, where, in recent years, she worked as a researcher and lecturer. She developed graduate-level courses in behavioral medicine.

With more than three decades of clinical experience as a pain specialist physiotherapist and her academic experience, Dr. Rovner is internationally recognized for her contributions to the integration of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) within physiotherapy and interdisciplinary pain rehabilitation. She is an ACBS Fellow and one of the few physiotherapists worldwide certified as a peer‑reviewed ACT trainer.

Her scientific work includes publications on pain acceptance, behavioral flexibility profiles, and predictors of rehabilitation outcomes. She has been invited to teach and present in Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, and Australia. Her research focuses on process‑based rehabilitation, biopsychosocial mechanisms of chronic pain, and the development of tailored, evidence‑based interventions for complex patient populations.
